Realising Design elements & Principles – Project 1
In my Semester 1 Fashion Design and Visualization module, I explored the beauty of nature by choosing the iris flower and gooseberry as my inspirations. I studied their unique characteristicsโlike the flowing petals and vibrant hues of the iris, and the layered textures and spherical form of the gooseberry. Through this, I visualized design principles such as balance, rhythm, and proportion, alongside elements like color, texture, and shape. The project was about translating natural forms into creative design concepts that capture their essence
Adding colors to our minimal life – Project 2
This project is a street wear collection tinspired by the rainbow grasshopperโnatureโs masterpiece of vibrant colors and patterns. It transforms this inspiration into wearable art, blending iridescent hues and striking designs to bring energy and life to minimal wardrobes.
The concept, โAdding Colors to Our Minimal Life,โ is a statement against monotony. Itโs about infusing everyday fashion with boldness and creativity, creating pieces that empower the wearer to stand out effortlessly.
Designed for Sri Lankaโs social media influencers, this collection is more than just clothingโitโs a tool for storytelling. With oversized silhouettes, modular designs, and details like reflective elements and glow-in-the-dark features, these pieces are perfect for those who live to captivate. Itโs a fusion of functionality and flair, crafted for trendsetters who redefine the boundaries of streetwear.
Symphony of unity – Project 3
Inspired by the untamed beauty of wildflowers, my Semester 4 menโs resort wear collection, โSymphony of Unity,โ brings natureโs vibrant harmony to life through fashion. Just as wildflowers bloom together in a balanced chaos, this collection fuses modern and traditional textile techniquesโdigital printing, delicate embroidery, and timeless weavingโto create a seamless blend of innovation and craftsmanship. Each outfit tells a story of unity, celebrating both the boldness of nature and the artistry of design.
Dreamscape Fantasy – Project 4
Dreams are a universal experience that transcend boundaries and cultures, connecting us all. Among them, there are two types: those rooted in reality and those that belong to the realm of fantasy and surrealism. For my concept, โDreamscape Fantasy,โ I focus on the surreal and fantastical nature of dreams. I chose Casa Batllรณ as my inspirationโa building grounded in the real world, yet inspired by Art Nouveau rather than Surrealism. By blending these two art movements, I aim to explore the coexistence of reality and fantasy, bringing the dreamlike world into tangible design.
For my Dreamscape Fantasy project, I created an avant-garde outfit using wax and polythene. I chose these materials to evoke a surreal, dreamlike quality, reflecting the concept of blending reality with fantasy. The wax gives the outfit an ethereal, fluid texture, while the polythene adds structure and a futuristic edge. Together, they create a striking visual that embodies the concept of surrealism and the otherworldly elements of dreams, making the garment feel both organic and sculptural.
